# Solvedle > Solvedle is a free daily logic-puzzle site: three puzzles every day (a 6x6 Tango-style sun & moon warm-up, an 8x8 medium and a 9x9 hard Star Battle). Star Battle rules: one star per row, column and colour region; stars never touch, not even diagonally. Tango rules: fill the grid with suns and moons, half of each per row and column, never three alike in a row, = joins equal cells and × opposite ones. Every puzzle has exactly one solution, verified by an exhaustive solver, and is solvable without guessing. Today is Solvedle #1 (October 29, 2026). ## Pages - [Today's puzzles](https://solvedle.com/): the daily trio - [How to play Star Battle](https://solvedle.com/star-battle): rules, a worked 5x5 example, solving techniques (single candidate, cells that see a whole unit, confinement), FAQ - [Queens game](https://solvedle.com/queens-game): unlimited Queens-style puzzles (one queen per row, column and colour region, none touching), 6x6 to 10x10, like LinkedIn's Queens - [Tango game](https://solvedle.com/tango-game): unlimited Tango-style sun and moon puzzles (balanced rows and columns, no three in a row, = and × signs), 6x6 and 8x8, like LinkedIn's Tango - [Star Battle Unlimited](https://solvedle.com/star-battle/unlimited): endless practice puzzles, 6x6 to 10x10, easy to expert (same rules as LinkedIn's Queens) - [Single candidate](https://solvedle.com/star-battle/techniques/single-candidate): A single candidate is the last cell in a row, column or region that is not ruled out. Every unit needs exactly one star, so that cell must be the star. Place it, then dot out its whole row, column and region and the eight cells around it, which often creates the next single candidate. - [Cell elimination](https://solvedle.com/star-battle/techniques/cell-elimination): Cell elimination rules out a cell when placing a star there would dot out every remaining cell of some other row, column or region. That unit would then have no place for its star, which is impossible, so the cell gets a dot. Small regions next to the cell are the usual victims. - [Confinement](https://solvedle.com/star-battle/techniques/confinement): Confinement applies when some regions fit entirely inside the same number of rows (or columns). Two regions inside two rows need both of those rows' stars, so no other cell in those rows can hold a star; dot them all. It also works in reverse: two rows whose open cells lie in just two regions. - [How puzzles are made](https://solvedle.com/about): generation, uniqueness check, difficulty grading by human techniques - [Star Battle generation benchmark](https://solvedle.com/about#star-battle-benchmark): reported aggregate results for 12,000 seed attempts; acceptance is not a random-grid uniqueness probability - [Benchmark CSV](https://solvedle.com/dataset/star-battle-generation.csv): six aggregate rows, CC BY 4.0 - [Archive](https://solvedle.com/archive): every past daily set at https://solvedle.com/daily/ ## Notes - Star Battle with one star per row is the same rule set as LinkedIn's Queens game; Solvedle is independent and not affiliated with LinkedIn. - Progress and streaks are stored only in the player's browser; there are no accounts.
