Games Like Queens and Tango: What to Play Next
After Queens, try larger one-star Star Battle boards or change to two stars per unit. After Tango, try classic Takuzu: keep balance and the no-three rule, drop relationship signs, and add distinct rows and columns.
There are two useful kinds of progression: deepen familiar rules, or change one constraint and learn a new deduction. Neither route guarantees a harder puzzle on every board.
| From → to | Keep | Change | Try it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Queens → one-star Star Battle | One per row, column, region; no touching | Artwork, board size and deduction demands | 8×8 medium |
| One star → two stars | Region counts and adjacency | Two per unit; track non-touching pairs | 10×10 two-star |
| Tango → classic Takuzu | Balanced lines and no triples | No signs; rows and columns must be distinct | 6×6 Takuzu |
| Takuzu → Tango | Two-symbol counts and runs | Use = / × signs; duplicate lines are allowed | 8×8 Tango |
Want more Queens without changing the rules?
Use Queens practice or one-star practice. A crown and a star can stand for the same piece. Practise single candidates and neighbourhood elimination, then groups of regions reserving rows or columns.
Ready for the two-star change?
Do not empty a row after its first star: it still needs another. A small region may have several available cells but only one non-touching pair. Learn the Two Not Touch comparison before trying the complete two-star walkthrough. Classic labels the rules on Solvedle, not a measured player difficulty.
Prefer Tango's two-symbol patterns?
Classic Takuzu replaces signs with line comparison. For example, two balanced endings can both avoid triples, yet one would duplicate an existing row. Only the other ending survives. The Takuzu deadlock guide demonstrates both row and column comparisons on released puzzles.
Which option works for a short daily break?
Choose one easy practice board for a flexible session. For a shared daily sequence, Solvedle's trio combines Tango and one-star Star Battle. For other reasoning styles, see logic games like Wordle. No fixed completion time or cognitive benefit is promised.
